Some things I Made

Diaper Bag for a gal who had her baby early this year.  I had this finished right before Christmas.

Ribbon Detail

Inside of Diaper Bag

Bag I made for my Mom.  She bought the fabric several months ago for this and for the one below for my sister.  I finally managed to get at them and make them right before Christmas.

Very fitting for my Mom.  Her dad, my grandpa, raised potatoes for years!

And my sisters

She LOVES raspberries :)

yeah, it took me awhile to get these posted. Not really sure why. But better late than never I suppose. At least on posting pics of stuff I make.

What have you made lately?
Or a better question might be what have you made in the past 2 months??!!!!

Sew a fine seam ~ I actually SEWED!!!

So I did actually manage to get some sewing accomplished recently.
A friend moved with her family to Haiti recently, and before she left she brought me some fabric to make her some curtains for their house there.  This burlap is for her son's room (i think!)
Isn't the ribbon she found so cute?!

She wanted a fold in the center to give it a sort of roman shade look.  Easy to do and adds great texture I think.  I really like how this one turned out.

There were two of these and they were each about 62 inches long.  For lack of a better way to photograph them easily and lack of motivation to take the time and effort to get good photos this is what I have.  Horizontal stripe piece at the top and the bottom 2/3 vertical.  The trim between the two really added just what they needed!  I hope they work well for her and are just what she had in mind.

Valentine Cards

One of my favorites.

The whole pile.

Another favorite.

This one was made by Little Sister (age 6)
I glued the arrow where she told me to and I cut the upside down v in the post-it note.

Now to get them mailed to people.  Or hand delivered.  Or maybe they will just be stuck here and there for decor.

Valentine Cards

Stamps.  A must when card-making:)  I prefer Cavallini.  I now have so many sets that they have to be stacked in TWO stacks on the shelf where I keep them.  You just can't have too many great stamp sets can you??

A trug full of supplies and tools.  Scissors, punches, twine, ribbon, tape, tickets, glue...

Cut some card stock into card size pieces.  No measuring or perfectness here, just wing it.

Hot glue gun.  Another must.

Make some arrows out of skewers and Japanese Washi tape.
(if you want some of this tape and you live close to me let me know.  I will be ordering some soon and I'd be glad to add yours to my order.  Saves on shipping!)
Follow the instructions HERE to make the arrows.

We made several small arrows by cutting the skewers into 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 pieces.
And by using toothpicks.  This sized them for gluing to cards.

I love texture.  Layer it up!

Old maps are a favorite crafting item of mine too.  I bought a huge book of old maps at the Springfield flea one year for $3.  It's a wonderful thing to have around:)

Have you made any valentines this year?  Do you buy them from the store?
I have seen some adorable altered valentines that originated from good old Wal-mart!

Christmas Wrapping Goodies!

I just ordered some really fun stuff to use for Christmas wrapping.
Check it out for yourself:)

Also I'd like for all of you to go to my friends blog post about 'Local Christmas'.
It's worth reading.  And thinking about.  Buy local this year!

Velvet Ribbon  ~  10 yards each color on darling wooden spools.
$28 for the set.  Not a bad price at all!

Baker's Twine  ~  54 yard each color $18.  EXCELLENT price!!

Tailor's shears.  Bet your are surpried those made it into my 'cart'!!
The paper 'Sundance' sells is made of recycled cotton.  Thus the 'tailors shears'

And the Cavallini Christmas stamp set.  I have 9 sets of Cavallini stamps and I have never regretted the purchase of any of them.  They are so much fun, easy to store, and they look neat stacked on a desk or cupboard.  And every time you open a set to use them there is a stamp pad right there handy!
Highly recommended.

There is plenty more yummy goodness in my Sundance catalog.  If you don't get it in your mailbox go to their website for some afternoon browsing.  www.sundancecatalog.com
Happy 'browsing'!!

Swan and Shears Goodies

I recently purchased some things from McMaster and Storm's Etsy shop, Swan and Shears.  I very much miss their brick and mortar shop they had in Greenville for several years.  I very much understand the reason for closing and going to online only but I still miss it.  I'm hopeful that they may set up pop-up shops now and then sometime in the future.  Till then I must be satisfied with browsing their online shops!

Their packaging is just so fun.  I don't know of a store in the area that does this fun of a packaging job:)  Thank you Kara!!
Vintage ribbon
Kara added a couple old apothecary jars from the recent school auction we both attended.
old price tags and a vintage tape measure
Vintage ice cream cups.  Little Sister tried to claim these as hers.  I should probably buy some more so I have enough to share with her:)
Penmanship scale.  Not sure what I'm going to do with this but I really liked it and will come up with something fun to do with it eventually.
These are the coolest note cards.  They have instructions on them for how to make a paper air plane.  VERY cute:)
I used the vintage tape measure to wrap around the long stem I made for my crepe paper flowers.

New fabrics from Sew to Speak

This past weekend my hubby and I went shopping with 5 other couples.  The girls left on Friday morning and spent all day and the next shopping.  The others were nice enough to stop at Sew to Speak - my favorite shop!  I promised not to spend too much time but I did pick up some fun new stuff to add to my stash:)

Christmasy fabric to be turned into some gifts.  Not sure what yet, but something fun!
Wool felt.  Tons of fun stuff can be created with this stuff:)
More laminated fabric.  Love the stuff.  I need to share some pics with you of the bag I made myself from the laminated fabric I purchased when I was there in September.
This kind of pile of goods gets my creative juices simmering!
