Blog Reveal

OK so my 'Retail Therapy' Post below is all wonky :(  I tried and tried and tried to get it to look like it was supposed to.  Blogger would NOT cooperate.  I am tired of blogger.   I have been working on a new blog.  I still have some things I want to add or change but I like the way it looks.  AND.  I DID IT MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Can you tell I'm excited about that fact? ? ?
I have spent many hours, frustration, and tears figuring it out.  But with the help of some search engines, and by finally buying a theme, and by reading and following a lot of instructions from Amy from 'Blogging with Amy', and with a lot of encouragement and a little advice from my husband, and some input from a friend's husband, and by texting my sister, I did it.  I will be adding to it, fleshing out some more of the pages, etc. but I am very pleased with what I have going on right now.  Would you like to see it?  You can!! www.sewafineseam.com  SO SO SO happy to drop that .blogspot.  Not going to miss that one bit.

If you take a peek at it would you let me know what you think?  Pretty Please??
And the post on Pinterest is still coming - will be next week sometime.

Sew a fine seam ~ I actually SEWED!!!

So I did actually manage to get some sewing accomplished recently.
A friend moved with her family to Haiti recently, and before she left she brought me some fabric to make her some curtains for their house there.  This burlap is for her son's room (i think!)
Isn't the ribbon she found so cute?!

She wanted a fold in the center to give it a sort of roman shade look.  Easy to do and adds great texture I think.  I really like how this one turned out.

There were two of these and they were each about 62 inches long.  For lack of a better way to photograph them easily and lack of motivation to take the time and effort to get good photos this is what I have.  Horizontal stripe piece at the top and the bottom 2/3 vertical.  The trim between the two really added just what they needed!  I hope they work well for her and are just what she had in mind.

Sewing Fine Seams!

This is a skirt I just made for me. I wore it last Friday night on a date with my wonderful husband:-) The fabric is Anna Maria Horner's 'Volumes'. I sewed a black grosgrain ribbon down the center. {TIP: if you want to sew a ribbon down the center, make the front with a seam. Then you just sew the ribbon right on top of the seam and you don't have to worry about getting it straight - just follow the seam!}

This is fabric and ribbon I have to make a skirt for a friend. Ribbon goes on the bottom of finished skirt.

This is a tablecloth to be made into a skirt for my friend too. I'll try to post some pics soon of how I decided to work this!!

And soon-to-be skirt number 3 for my friend!

Just a pile of other sewing projects I have waiting on me!
