Laundry Soap

I think I've done a post on laundry soap before.  I've tweaked my recipe since then.

And I've started using my mixer to grate the soap.  I grate at least 4 bars each time I make soap.

The white powdery stuff under the grated soap is...

...washing soda and...

...borax.

1 bar grated Fels-Naptha, 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup borax...

then I add...

1 cup powdered Tide.
I do love my Tide.  I like it just fine as my one and only laundry soap. BUT.  It's expensive.
Doing it this way I still get the clean smell of tide and the power of Tide but also I get the cleaning power of the homemade stuff too!  Together I have an inexpensive, mean-on-stains laundry soap.
For stains I wet the stained area and rub some of this mixture into the fabric.  Works like a charm for me!

The fact that it looks neat in a glass jar doesn't hurt anything either.

Have you ever made soap?  If you buy your laundry soap what kind is your favorite?

Inspiration

Some pictures from my 'creative ideas' folder.
No I don't know where they all came from unless they have the name watermarked on the picture.
I'm off to find a warm spot to curl up for the evening!
Coming up soon is a really fun giveaway I've been privileged to offer you!  Watch for it soon!

Love this stairway.  Seriously considering adding some numbers to my steps when finally get them painted.  But I might mix mine up.  Or would that make it difficult to climb them??!

Have a coffee table that needs a facelift?  I'd highly recommend trying this.  It's just darling.

By the way my laundry always looks I need this in my laundry room.  And maybe in every room of the house so I don't keep 'forgetting' to do the laundry!

This is just the most fun, girly, romantic tablecloth ever.  Want one?  I'd love to make one for you:)

I am going to figure out how to make one of these for myself.  If you know me in-real-life you should soon see me wearing one of these:)

Her day is filled with laundering....

My day today was filled with laundering.  And while it wasn't near as glamorous as this photo portrays it, my vintage laundry baskets do help!  I have 3 now, just like the one above - only larger.
And clean laundry is such a blessing.  I have plenty of water and soap to get them clean with, and i put them in the dryer to get them dry. (Which was a huge blessing today, as it rained all day long)

Along with my laundry today, I did some fun, 'fussy' stuff for the 'Brick Farmhouse Event'
Set-up has started!  And will continue all week.  So excited, so ready for it to get here.
Hope to see you all there!!!

{Upcoming Event}

At last!!  More pics from the photo shoot for the 'Brick Farmhouse Event'!
We wanted to create an online look book.  I'm still trying to decide if I can indeed figure that out myself.  As time is running out and I have tons of sewing still to do it may not happen.
So here is the next best thing:)

Her day is filled with laundering textiles; she hurriedly gathers her french laundry basket to collect the linens off the line, so she can enjoy a seemingly simple afternoon in the countryside. She is in a dither over going to the charming brick farmhouse event that is "on the way to nowhere and out of the way from everywhere!"

See you in September

Laundry Day.

We've had a typical summer Monday. After sleeping in with the cool breeze coming in the window, I did laundry. Why is it that Monday seems to be laundry day for so many people? My Mother says it always helped her to get going on the new week. It was something that had to be done and something to focus one right after the weekend. I tend to do it on Monday and Thursday when I stay on schedule. I like for most of my girls clothes to be clean for the weekend, so I have whatever I decide they need to wear. Sometimes I do it whenever I can get to it! Somehow, though, it seems like Monday morning is laundry day! I love the smell of fresh laundry in my house, it feels like I have really accomplished something!
Mom and Dad came for supper and then took the girls home with them for the night. I'm headed to the hospital tomorrow for a minor surgery so they get to stay with Grandma! I'll be back soon, hopefully I can post again tomorrow night, we'll see how loopy I am from the anesthetic!! Hope your laundry day was a good one!
