Thanksgiving

*I copied this whole post from my sisters blog.  She doesn't even know I'm doing it - heehee!  But she said it all so I got lazy and just used her post.  Thanks Sis!!

Over the river, and through the wood,

When Grandmother sees us come,

She will say, “Oh, dear, the children are here,

Bring a pie for everyone.”

Over the river, and through the wood—

Now Grandmother’s cap I spy!

Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?

Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? Traditional or untraditional? Do you have a menu that you use every year or does it vary from year to year?

Pumpkin pie is definitely one of my favorites! With my mother’s pie crust. I love fresh-baked rolls and my grandmother’s cranberry salad. And, of course, the stuffing, and mashed potatoes. I don’t have to have sweet potatoes, but my mother-in-law makes a really good sweet potato casserole. Green beans are always good and you can’t leave out the turkey and gravy. Yum! As one of my great uncles used to say,
“My, aren’t we blessed?”

Little Sister is missing Middle Sister something awful since she has been gone! Middle Sister went with my parents to go see her aunt, uncles and cousins in Kansas. Middle Sister left here on Monday night and will be gone 2 weeks. Little Sister doesn't know what to do with herself! She watches Thomas the Tank Engine on the computer a lot and gets into things quite a bit. She seems to always be looking for some way to get attention. She told Big Sister the other evening, "My fwend Lawty (larkey) went to Tansas wif Gwama and I miss hew!" Today she started telling me about one time when she and Middle Sister were playing and Middle Sister pushed her over. She got very teary eyed and ended up bawling at the top of her lungs but wouldn't let me cuddle her. She went stomping upstairs to her room and cried for awhile! The first day Middle Sister was gone Little Sister was very grumpy and ended up stomping upstairs and going to sleep! I think the only thing worse would be separating twins!
I'm sure the first day they are back together they will soon be fussing with each other but I guess that just means they love each other!

Wonderful summertime!

This is what we have been doing a lot of this summer! My girls have learned a lot and had a lot of fun with this Christmas present from Grandma! Middle Sister took swimming lessons for the first time this year and she has come a LONG way! When the pool first went up she was wearing a life jacket all the time. By the end of the first week of swim lessons she had ditched the life jacket! Just yesterday she finally started putting her face completely in the water and swimming several strokes! Amazing how fast a child catches on! Little sister started out clinging to Mom the whole time and just yesterday she went out with just her sisters with Mom checking out the window now and then! Big sister thinks she is pretty cool now that she can do the backstroke!School starts in 3 weeks so our 'lazy' summer is rapidly ending. I'm sure we will pack in as much as possible! Happy August!
