Ruffled bag

My Mom bought these fabrics when we were in Holmes County over Christmas.  She wanted a bag made to give to a friend.  So a few weeks ago I finally got it made for her.  Now she has it for whenever she wants to give it away!

I used a canvas bag from Walmart that I already had and just added ruffles, cut the old handles off and made new ones.  I saw this idea here. Gotta be the most simple way to make a ruffled bag!  I just used a rolled hem on my serger to finish the bottoms of the ruffles.  One of these days I'm gonna get me a ruffler for my sewing machine and then it will really be easy.

Yummy.  Wish I could take a bite right now!  Chocolate helps everything right?  And if you don't like chocolate I'm sure you have some sort of comfort food that fits the bill.

When in need of a birthday gift...

...and the weather is not conducive to a shopping expedition...

...dig through your stash of fabric and accessories and make something!

I thought the selvage of this laminated fabric was cute so I didn't cut it off.
Yellow button to match the yellow purse handles.
Inside lined with regular fabric - more dots!!

And another shot just for fun!
And I have some more in the works, just have to get some more purse handles and accessories ordered.  Would you like to see these show up on ETSY????

'Sewing Supplies'

While in Holmes County between Christmas and New Year's I found some really fun stuff at a fabric store I love to shop in.
Large buttons and very cute, fun purse handles.
Laminated fabric.  This stuff is the absolute best stuff to have around.  I will show you a purse I just made as a gift very soon.  I promise!!
scissors prints.  Don't know for sure what I will do with this stuff but I couldn't leave it there.  Scissors are a favorite remember!
More fun prints.

This one will be really fun to use.  Purses, pillows, wall hanging??  Oh the possibilities!
And three pieces I bought to make skirts for me.  Do you see a common denominator here?? Guess what my favorite apparel color is!!

New purse...and a giveaway!!

So... as you read this I should be off for a weekend of shopping, fun, laughter, and craziness.  We are going on a weekend shopping trip with a group of our friends.  I'm so excited!  As I type this I'm thinking about packing, getting the girls ready to go to Grandma's, and, oh yes, getting SCHOOL done when the girls get up:)
I got the sewing I had planned for this week finished early yesterday and decided to do something fun.  Every girl needs a new purse now and then and what could be more fun than a new one to take shopping??  So I made this one.  I bought these handles at Sew to Speak when Travis took me there in September.  So I decided to use them.  I used an Amy Butler pattern and put my own twist to it.  I used these handles instead of making the handle the pattern said to make.  I really like the way it turned out.  I love it when I can take a pattern, use my own idea to make it uniquely mine, AND it turns out and I actually like the result:)  And this fabric?  I got it at Sew to Speak too!  LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  I mean, what seamstress wouldn't???  I also have a huge shoulder bag I made out of the comic strip fabric but I decided it might be a bit obnoxious to take shopping:)  But perhaps it will be my overnight bag...

So.... yesterday's post marked 300 posts.  WoW!  Can't believe it.
To celebrate would any of you like a new purse?  A new skirt?  A purse or skirt for your daughter?  Leave me a comment, any comment, and when I return from shopping I'll draw a name and the winner can tell me how she wants her skirt or purse made.  That's right!  You choose: a skirt or a purse
For you, your daughter, your friend, your Mom, whoever you wish.  And you can tell me how you want it or you can be surprised:)
Have a wonderful weekend, I can't wait to see who all jumps on board for this one!

Christmas purse.

Baby Meg's mother has told me not to give Meg anything else, but I just couldn't resist doing this. (I don't listen well anyway!) I found this cute felt purse in Joann Fabric's dollar bin and as soon as I saw it I thought "how cute would that look with an 'M' on it" So that is what I did. Every little girl needs a purse, right?!? I thought so. Now I need to go see her again and take it to her.

Skirt and Runway Bag.

I made this skirt for a friend to try out the pattern I made for her. She said she had bought the fabric to make a bag but might not ever get one made. Since we needed cotton to try the pattern she said to just use this one. I dressed the skirt up a little by adding the ribbon down the front seam. And with the leftover fabric I made her an Amy Butler Runway Bag. I've had the pattern for awhile and never used it. This fabric she gave me for the skirt is Amy Butler Fabric and so is the dot fabric that I used for the embellishments to the bag. The bag is unique in that the zipper is on the end. You can carry it on your shoulder and unzip it to get inside without taking it off your shoulder. I dropped it all off at my friends house about an hour ago, before she was home from town. Hope she likes it!!
