Cold~Cold~Cold

It is January.  In Ohio.  It is Cold.  So cold I feel I will never get warm.  The air I breathe is too cold.  My fingers feel like icicles.  My feet are almost numb.  The only warm spot is in the living room where the stove resides.  But most of my work is on the other end of the house.  Where. It. Is. Cold.  I'm not dealing with it very well.  It is so hard to keep the girls doing school when the school room is cold.  And they have to do at least some of it there because they use the computers.

The picture above is a beautiful hydrangea from last summer.  I wish it were summer all year.  I'm so tired of being cold.  Thankful December wasn't like this, but now it is and I don't like it.

On a more cheerful note my laptop should be here within a week!  Then at least when I want to be blogging I can do it from my couch.  Where it is warm.

Now I need to get school lessons ready.  I've implemented a new plan to get the girls going earlier.  They get 5 points for being showered, dresses and breakfasted by 8:15.  It is 8:10 this morning and they are ready.  Except for Little Sister.  She hasn't appeared yet and I decided to let her sleep.  She's my 'baby' after all.

Off the races!  Maybe I WILL race around for awhile.  It might warm me up.

And the New Year brings... snow.

...and wind.  Lots of wind.  I am so thankful for a house that has heat sources in it.  And I'm thankful God chose to let us get through Christmas without any snow and with warmer temperatures than what is howling out there right now.  The only thing I really like about the picture above is that it appears the inside is cozy, dry, and WARM.  I am not a winter lover.  I dislike the cold.  But spring always comes and on it's heels, summer.  I will make it once again.  For now I will curl up on the couch beside the stove and dream of hot sunshine!!  And enjoy my sweet, white coffee:)

BRRRRR.

This is the inside of my kitchen window. And, yes, the ice is on the inside.
The bright morning sun is starting to melt the ice on this kitchen window but it was completely iced on the inside too. That is what you get with old windows and old walls that are filled with brick. So if you are dreaming of owning an old house just be prepared for what comes with it!
We had the walls in the room beside my kitchen insulated but the foundation needs some help that hasn't happened yet. With a west windchill of -25 it is not what I call warm! It is now up to 62 degrees with a very chilly floor! Just warning you, old houses look good when they belong to someone else!!!!!!
Stay warm!

I'm Cold & Missing Summer!

I am sooooo missing summer already! I wish my kids were still doing this!

The last couple of days I've had a lot of appointments too keep and that means dragging everyone out IN THE COLD! Sorry all you cold weather lovers but getting all the coats, hats, gloves etc. out and zipping everybody in and making sure everyone leaves the coat on till everyone else is ready to go and THEN going out in below freezing temperatures with a wind blowing is not my idea of a good time. I still can't get warm this evening!! I've said before and I still believe it, that I get cold in November and don't thaw till June! I'm so wishing for swimming weather again. Sigh.

Cold Weather is here.

This past Saturday Big Sister and Little Sister decided to play outside on the porch. They started out huddled together under a couple of blankets and ended up coming back in for more and more outerwear. This is what they ended up looking like.

Little Sister decided she could ride on the 'Little People' airplane. Not sure she will get to California anytime soon but she had fun!
