{My Goodwill Find!}

I'm not one of those who typically finds great stuff at Goodwill. I get some clothes for my kids occasionally, my husband buys shirts there, I find the occasional clothing item for myself. But I never find the new Lands End shoes, denim jean jacket (I've been hunting for over a year), the paint-by-number prints, the cute vintage Christmas items, and definitely not the leather couch. Nope, not me, I just don't have the touch. Usually.


Now I know this isn't a leather couch (I doubt I'll ever be the one to nab one of those!) but I was excited to see it sitting at Goodwill the other evening! I'd been thinking for a few weeks that I needed to get an old box of some kind to put the girls books in so they wouldn't always be all over my living room. I tossed around the idea of having Travis make one but, he has so many other projects to do I hated to even mention it. I thought maybe if I'd take the time to go to garage sales I'd find something. Problem usually is if I DO find something I like, it has a price tag that is more than I want to pay.
So when I spotted this for $2.99 I grabbed it! Big Sister was just ahead of me and she stopped at it, looked back at me and said, "I suppose you like this?" I said "of course!" and picked it up and headed to the front of the store!!

A good power washing, a little lemon oil, a healthy dose of sunshine, some felt pads and it will soon be in my living room, home of a stack of books! (Only need to get the felt pads now)

Little Sister rides a bike.

Little Sister and I finally rememberd to tell Daddy that the training wheels on her bike needed adjusted so the back wheel could touch the ground all the time. Now she can really ride. (yes, she has a nightgown on. She dresses herself. For some reason my kids would rather wear their night clothes all the time.)

Recent Skirt projects

This was done for a friend out of a skirt she bought. It had an elastic waist and was too big so I used her a-line skirt pattern and cut it down, put it back together, put a zipper in it and viola!

This was a plain khaki skirt that I detailed with fabric and ribbon to dress it up.

{4th of July}

I know I am woefully behind but I just never took the time to get pictures off my camera till now. I guess that would be one drawback to having a memory card that holds so many pictures!!
We went to my husband's sister's house for the evening on the 4th of July. We had a yummy meal, great fellowship and we celebrated Travis' niece's engagement:-) We are so excited that Brad and Crystal are getting married! Woo-Hoo! (hard to believe this is the same little girl who was flower girl in our wedding)

These are the flowers Brad had given Crystal. Aren't they beautiful? Honey, if you are reading this I REALLY, REALLY like these! Not hinting or anything...

And if you remember, it rained about 9:45 on the 4th.

Not MY child! Monday

MckMama has started some new 'not me' fun and I just had to join in. I know some of my readers probably think I've fallen off the earth, so here's a little answer to what I've been doing instead of blogging!

It's not my child who on many occasions lately, says she is hot, takes her shirt off, and runs around all morning, afternoon and/or evening. It's not the same child who likes to say she is 'almost' four. I would never let my children go naked, even if it's only partly naked. It is NOT this child of mine, who takes her swimsuit off, outside, in front of her grandparents. It's NOT this same child who took off out the FRONT door naked because she was mad at her Dad for trying to dress her. We have instilled morals in her, she would NEVER do that!

It is not my children who want to watch their 'Tom and Jerry' dvd all day long. MY children like to do games and educational stuff all the time! They don't beg to get High School Musical at the library every week either. And they certainly don't sing the songs from those musicals either!

It was not my child who threw such a long, loud, screaming, kicking fit on Saturday that I closed the window so the neighbors would hopefully not feel they needed to call 911!

And it is NOT my 10 year old who is looking way too grown up in her recent pictures. She's still my little girl and isn't growing up way too fast!
