Laying a VCT Floor.

First you spend 2 HOURS doing this when your wife has gotten paint ALL OVER the floor. (wife thought husband said he was tearing the old flooring out so it didn't matter if there was paint on it) Also, it always helps to start a project like this at 9:00 at night. Then by the time your floor is clean enough to start gluing down tile it will be 11:00 at night.
See all that paint? When you glue VCT tiles directly on top of all that it might hinder the adherence of the VCT. Hence the 2 hours of scrubbing. (Next time wife will cover floor before she paints... or maybe there won't be a next time?)

Spread a large area with glue. Remember it's only 11:00 at night on Saturday night. Glue has to set for at least 30 minutes. In this case I think it was more like an hour. Has to set up till it looks clear and feels tacky or it won't hold the tiles and will never dry.
Finally when the glue looks like this you can lay your first tile!
WOO-HOO! (It's now only 12:30am)
First grey tile beside all the red!

At 2:30 in the morning you finally have that large area of glue covered with VCT tiles. Clean up your tools, put things away as much as possible, take a picture of a pitcher of flowers sitting on your new floor, and GO TO BED. Church in the morning is a good idea if you can get your eyes open. (We slept in)
More pics coming soon. They are still on the camera. Kitchen needs an electrical wire run (unless, of course, you like an orange extension cord running through the room) and a permanent counter top made for the new cabinet.

I love the red and gray! Don't you just love those miscommunications and our husbands who love us regardless!

looks great! can't wait to see more pics! that's too funny, of course it would work out that the old floor had to be cleaned before you could do the tiles!!

How fun to get it done despite the late night, we've did that too many times! loving what you've did with your kitchen.

ok is that VCT the same flooring Joni has in her utility/laundry? because I was just telling Thane this morning( for the 5th time) how great I think that would be to use someday in our house.
