Bridesmaid dresses
OK so I haven't forgotten that this blog is called 'Sew a Fine Seam'
I have been sewing some just not doing a great job of sharing.
Or a great job of taking photos but I'll share what I have on my latest bridal project.
The dresses came to me like this. I've never cared for strapless. Always looks like the girl is going to fall out of it or it's going to fall off of her. They can be made to fit properly and not look that way but most are not. The mother of the bride wanted a little more modesty too. It's amazing what the addition of some wide straps can do.
Since the dresses also needed some altering to fit properly I had to tear the bodice apart. Because of that I opened it up all across the top and inserted the straps like they would have been had they been a part of the original design. Had the dresses not needed the altering I would have handsewed the straps in place to eliminate the need to tear the dress apart.
And with the straps added. I know it's not a great pic, I actually almost forgot to take one, but it's the best I have. I'm hoping eventually I will get some pics from the actual wedding. The pics look so much better with the dresses on the intended wearer.
Full length, these dresses almost brushed the floor.

Great fix, they look as if they belong!
I wholeheartedly believe that about strapless dresses. I bet these will be very elegant on;)
