...in whatsoever state....

Philippians 4:11 says:
Not that I speak in respect of want:  for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

The translation that is fast becoming my favorite says it this way: ...Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

I've thought of this a lot lately.  Because I find myself very often NOT content.  I don't like the cold weather.  The snow makes things difficult when I have to take 3 girls out.  My sewing/computer/school/craft room is not as warm as I would like.  And the list could go on and on and on.  But then I come back to "whatever situation".  I think that means even when I'm cold.  Even when the weather isn't what I would have ordered.  Even when I don't like the temperature in the room I'm trying to work in.

So...instead of complaining I'm trying to think of the blessings and the positives instead.  I still fail plenty of times.  And then God gently whispers Philippians 4:11 to me and I have to stop and rethink.  Yes, I will be very thankful when it warms up.  Yes, my days are usually better when the sun shines.  Yes, I still complain some, but I'm working on it!  I'll never be perfect but HE is and with His help I CAN be content whatever my situation. (even when it's cold and windy!!)

Thanks for this. I love the cold and detest the heat. I think God gives us one so we can be thankful for the other. I don't think you'd be thankful for the sun if it were out all the time nor I for the snow if it were always around. Love ya!
